Feeling crowded? Find out where all of Austin’s new residents are coming from!

As we all know, Austin has become THE place to live. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, an average of 157 people are moving to our beloved city every day. But where are they all migrating from? SpareFoot, an Austin-based startup, researched this very question, and came up with some surprising answers. The majority of new residents – 53.43% – come from within Texas itself. Below are the top 5 counties people are fleeing in order to escape to Austin. Williamson County Harris County Hays County Bexar County Dallas County The other 46.57% of our new neighbors come from outside of Texas, and these result may surprise you. Cook County, IL (Chicago) Orange County, CA Los Angeles County, CA Maricopa County, AZ (Phoenix) Providence County, RI Illinois and Rhode Island, you say!? With scientific data like this, Austinites can no longer claim that all the new residents are coming from California. #metroaustinhomes
